Birthday MV killed the era. TIHWD's performance has been significantly affected by Birthday's underperformance. If it was released as the third single, after back to back smashes Roar and Dark Horse (no Uncle), it'd have been a #1 smash too.

Please not WoA. I'd prefer International Smile to WoA. Besides, WoA was played a fair bit back when it was a promo single (in Australia) and was played again after Dark Horse smashed here, before Birthday was officially released. It was probably just getting a recurrent airplay.

I agree that the Birthday MV killed the era. It wasn't the song itself. It had 80M airplay, #13 in sales, but literally no streaming. Had it been a video like TIHWD which has great streaming, it would've gone Top 10.
