And the complete social awakening.
From the early 80's the Queen of pop has been causing controversy. Love her or hate her there is no denying Madonna's impact of pop culture, a lot of Madonna's impact was due to the social climate at the time and the reactions of her work. Back in the 80's it was taboo to talk about sex, aids and to speak out against homophobia but Madonna did it and suffered the back lash for it. Madonna became a legend because as the world progressed, as our opinions and understanding evolved Madonna became more and more appreciated.
Guess what?...
It's happening again.
Today, A Madonna concert is a place where people go to protest over her political convictions. Today, Madonna at 56 is selling like the pop grils in their early 20's, she's eclipsing them in touring and the hate about her age is pouring in. It's no secret that the world is heading in the direction of acceptance. One day discrimination against age, race, sex and sexuality is going to end because like we did in the 80's and 90's we are evolving to the ever changing social climate.
In 20 or so years when we look back at history, Madonna is going to stand out (again) as the woman that broke age boundaries, that sent a message that says older people can be sexy, that fought for what she believed in and as a person that has been a key part of the change.
It's all because of you, her haters. Her detractors, the people that make fun of her for being old and "trying too hard" It's all because of you that her legendary status is going to be extended.
So, The Madonna base, Join me in thanking Madonna's haters.

I love your logic tho. She performed at the superbowl so the album sold.
First you anti Madonna people say the SB was single promo, now you're saying album promo.
Here's a hint. No MDNA songs aside from the first single were sang during the SB. The album MDNA was not promoted during the superbowl even once.
The superbowl was designed to sell tickets to her shows and as promo for the single.
Anyways, I digress, this thread is dedicated to people like you, thank you.

Don't even bother believing those 2M copies 
MDNA left the Global Album Chart after selling 1,3M copies. It is totally impossible for it to have sold 700k copies since then.
Also, didn't IFPI or UMG report 1,8M shipments on their 2013 report? 
The album is at 1,5M at best.
If we're going by the IFPI logic, ARTPOP sold about 2,9M copies by now (2,3 in 2013 and 0,6 in 2014).

The nerve of some of the Gag stans in here
The MDNA album was released how many MONTHS after the Superbowl? Oh ok. GMAYL went Gold. The tour made over 300 million outgrossing Gaga and her other "successors"
Now let's play another game.
Let's name a girl who made her debut in the 80's like Madonna, whose last album matched or surpassed MDNA's total sales. OR whose tour made hundreds of millions of dollars.
It's ok, I can wait.

Fear, of what we can only guess since if you stan for someone everyone is compared to, you should not feel threatened.
Maybe fear of people forgetting all she's done for society (the minorities) through the years because it is something that shouldn't be forgotten. But I really don't know where is this insecurity coming from, just my 
On the other hand, everyone is protective of their fave. We have the right to defend her from all those haters etc
