It was clear to anyone other than those caught up in the Ariana hype that she wasn't going to move many albums. She really didn't have an opportunity for Frankie to sabotage.

But her label's intense promotional push this era combined with not 1 but 3 smash hits before the album made Ariana one of the most recognizable names this year. After Problem became the biggest sales debut of the year she literally had everything set up perfectly for her album to smash until Frankie was casted to be in the Big Brother house.
Maybe. I know someone who watched big brother and seems to not even want to give Ariana Grande a chance because she thinks her brother is rude and obnoxious.
Sabotage is a strong word but he's definitely not good promotion for her. Plus you do have to wonder just how similar are they in real life as brother/sister? If she's even half as bad as him she's not somebody I could ever be a fan of.

That's what a lot of people are saying, and it doesn't help that him being her brother was major story line this season
We all knew this could be bad for Ari before the season even began
He was pretty popular in the beginning of the season though.... Then he became HORRIBLE and pissed off 98% of the viewers with his attitude/personality.
