Basically from what I gathered. Ridley is grabbing Pikachu but that's it. He's not doing anything else. In previous fights, the master hand or any boss would actually attack Pikachu, not just grab him without doing anything else. So he's saying that it's not a boss attack, but it's Ridley as a playable character using his grab on Pikachu and then not attacking with it (hence Pikachu escaping soon after).

Duck Hunt are one single character model, they are just just disjointed to appear as "two."

Rosalina and Luma are two separate models, but Luma is incapable of acting and thinking on his own. You have direct input to his movements.

Nana is an intelligent (usually) AI that follows around your character and mimics your movements, but you don't have direct input to her. Because of that Ice Climbers are a lot more complex than Luma, but that's not to say that they couldn't have found a way to make them work had they thought about it a little longer or approached it in a different way.

But wouldn't there be a shadow for the shield?

I'm so bitter that Mewtwo is not on the roster that I might not actually get the 3ds version and wait tbh, Sakurai deserves less money from me.

No. That's one way, but you can also do it by just pressing Z on the GCN controller.

Oh, well there's always that possibility. I'm neither pro or anti Ridley and couldn't care less if he made it in or not, but Metroid definitely needs more games reps
