Slippery slope arguments are not a thing; just because they very reasonably allowed what is soon to be the biggest form of music consumption to count for certification does not mean that they will suddenly amalgamate all aspects of musical release into album certifications. I mean, we're not even talking about the same organization here.

Even if they did, why is that a bad thing? Is there a particular reason that the holistic review of an entire musical era, and the ascribing of a certain status based on that review, is a bad thing in your opinion? I see it as a potentially more accurate way of indicating success relative to an artist's peers and to the rest of the industry.

Great idea but they will need to lower the songs impact on the charts.
Edit: as long as it doesn't include Airplay, I'll use it.

I like this idea. It will keep albums fairly relevant, at least for now.

However, it's only a matter of time before people quit buying albums altogether, though.

There had to be a change considering how low the music market will keep dipping, so this will defiantly be a fair representation of the Album/Era's success!

Oh. It feels like the Hot 100 changes + RIAA streaming certs all over again. To be completely honest, it is a nice idea. I like the idea of having a TEA chart (but it would be better without streaming being involved). The one thing that irks me is that they're probably going to make it the DEFAULT albums chart. Yes BB200 will still exist but we won't get as much details on it as we do now...

Also I can see the RIAA following in their footsteps and making album certifications include TEA to save the drastic state of the music market in future.

Its a great way to determine relevance. Album sales are in the pits these days, this was coming like a white horse.

I wonder if this will count for compilation albums? Like if there's a bunch of streaming for Michael Jackson's songs Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, etc. would that have an effect on just the parent albums of each song or would they, say, affect EVERY compilation album with those songs on it?

For example., if there was enough streaming to propel an album to #1 per song, would the compilation albums Number Ones, Essential Michael Jackson, etc. all occupy the top 10 since they feature the songs?

Either they will separate by individual track (ie. the copy on Number Ones would count there while the copy on Thriller or Bad would count for the original parent album), or all would count toward the original parent album.

Well this is going to be a disaster.

This might be an okay idea for a supplemental chart for the BB200 but without sales there is no industry...

Great idea. Basically an era chart.

Magazine covers...? I'm confused. They're just adding the popularity of the individual components of the album, which seems like a perfectly valid move in measuring popularity to me.
