I love the iPod Classic and I can't get a response from Apple as to why it was retired. If any of you work for Apple or know why it was retired, could you please post in the link below? I was just curious. Thanks!

EDIT: If you do work at Apple and would like to give your thoughts on why it was retired or anything like that, please feel free to post because I may write a paper on it for my Journalism class (you will be quoted anonymously, don't worry).

Because it was old and had an HDD, not flash memory like all of Apple's later products, and most people are buying iPhones and iPads rather than iPods anyway, so.....

Too flawless

1) People are buying music less and less, and when they are they're using iPhones

2) It can't do anything but play music- why buy that when you can buy something that plays music and does a plethora of other stuff too

3) It's been outdated for over half a decade

It's really outdated.

Probably because people are now forced to buy the 128 GB iPhone if they want to have a large storage Apple device.

Because they want the millions of people who OTHERWISE would have bought iPod Classics to buy the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus horrid!

I know plenty of people with iPod Touches. But yeah, the Classic was just outdated.

I still use my iPod Classic daily. I have the 80gb and it's better for me when travelling so listening to music won't drain the battery on my phone.

I hate this generalism. Why am I supposed to use an iPhone instead of an iPod if I want to listen to music? At this point I rather buy myself a cheaper music player!

You can now get a 128 GB iPhone, just 32GB less than the iPod Classic. Might as well buy a music player plus much more.

It's ridiculous. I already have a phone, why would I want another when all I want is an iPod with sufficient storage?

its the best ipod because you can put so much music on it

I don't want a ****ing iphone for an ipod the battie life only lasts 4 hours Dx

i have an ipod touch but hasnt got much room on it.

Simple... not enough money in it anymore. I'm assuming Apple has not been selling enough of them to continue justifying its place in the product lineup, and they don't see any major benefits from pouring money into the development of an updated model.

So happy I bought the 160GB when I had the chance. I can't imagine life without it.
