Most of these people have managers/agents... they're long past the self made star thing! They take advantage of simple minded 12 year olds by doing videos like "My first time" , "Naked challenge whatever", "Am I gay?...", "My first gay kiss"... just so that their videos become viral. They're promoting themselves all the time and promoting other companies with their plugs just for money. So please don't mention the word talent when talking about these people. They will eventually stop vloging when the profits decrease (which they are...) and get real jobs.

Just because they're building a fanbase on social media and using that as a platform to get on reality shows, secure acting roles, or get a recording contract doesn't mean they aren't talented. It takes a lot to become relevant and famous on YouTube, and they put a lot of work into their content.
Any magazine that features these youtube stars just loses its credibility imo. Record yourself, put it on youtube and you're a star? Also, look at the Teen choice awards. It literally became a complete joke after they invited all these youtube stars.
