Interesting. I'm not particularly thrilled about this, but I think it's something that will need to happen eventually as we continue to phase physical album sales out over the next 5 or so years.

Fine with this as long as the BB200 stays. The album charts have skewed older the past 2 or 3 years, maybe not so much with the #1s but the general makeup of the top 10 isn't really recognizable compared to the demographics represented in the 90s and 00s.

Now if only they would fix their genre charts to actually mean anything about the people who listen to those genres the most.

so we're getting

1) more accurate streaming numbers
2) a chart that's solely based on TEA

i mean... as long as they keep the normal hot 100/top 200 charts i don't really care. but it'll be nice to have actual TEA numbers instead of stan estimates.

I find it a tad annoying that these TEA numbers would include all streams though. IF they go by the Billboard Hot 100 formula, then Harlem Shake's first 3 weeks of streams ALONE would have made the theoretical parent album go Gold in TEA.

At least it wouldn't count radio, which is one difference with Artist 100.

This chart is a brilliant idea and it is IN ADDITION to the B200. What the hell is wrong with what is essentially an era chart when 75% of ATRL is bitching about which era is biggest this month?

But this chart isn't ascribing "sales" or figures to an album, so its not like they're going to pretend an album is gold or sold x amount because of single streams.

WHAT? So if ONE song gets a bunch of streams, an entire album will benefit?

If a song is present on multiple albums, which of those does its sales/streams count for?

I didn't think we'd get "diamond" singles for having many millions of streams, yet here we are.

Because one song is not representative of an entire album. People who listen to just one song don't always listen to an entire album?
