Well many in Canada are probably making fun of Calgary and area for its freak summer storm, its no joke.

On Sunday, it was nearly 30C in many parts of Alberta, but a change of 24 hours and its near 0C and snowing, in record amounts. In just 3 days, September 2014 has already become one the snowiest Septembers in history. A daily record was broken in Calgary on monday.

Today 30,000 people don't have power cause of the storm. My school campus actually lost power too.

Hundreds of accidents on slippery roadways, and a transit system that just isn't moving.

Thousands of trees have collapsed onto cars, houses, roadways, sidewalks.

As random as the storm was, is how random it improves. It's suppose to be back towards 30C by Sunday/early next week.

Mother nature is drunk apparently and forgot winter doesn't actually start for three more months.

For our lovely neighbours to the south, let me put this into perspective for you (as many of you are like "snow in Canada? well duh, how is that surprising!")

It was 86 F on Sunday (PLUS humidity on top of that, many people had their air conditioners running)... and then 32 F on Monday and there was SNOW. Most of Canada doesn't get snow until November. Depending on where you live, our summers are [generally] really mild, humid and smoggy. Snow in the summer is unheard of. Dramatic change in weather within a 24 hour span.

I didn't even think about what would happen if snow occurred before the leaves fell off the trees, so much tree damage.

I'm still surprised it ever gets that hot in Canada. Though I have heard of this Bad lands area in the Dakotas getting pretty warm.

In that snow storm that covered the who USA in early 2011, some ice fell from a tree when me and mom were in a drive through. It hit like a block of ice. It didn't do any damage, but i get what you mean. And this was in ATL.

i saw this program on Travel Channel last night [most extreme roads], and it featured some icy, mountain highway in BC or Alberta that had to have lose snow blasted regularly. **** living in remote places.

You'd be surprised how many trees fall in in Atlanta due to wind and rain.

Parts of Canada (including even the Northern territories too) reach 40C (104F) every single summer. In 2009, Calgary reached a temperature of 34C (92F) in late September.

Also in Calgary, that city has had a recorded record of 70F in every month except for December & January.

Snow this early in the season is very rare. Usually it doesn't happen until late October or November.

Wait, the Calgary Zoo was closed today too. That's the first time they haven't opened since last years terrible flood.

I am traumatized by ice in trees from the Ice Storm last year!! There's STILL a lot of damage in my area from ice build up on trees. Can you imagine if Alberta had an ice storm instead of a snowfall event? An inch of ice + all those leaves... no trees would be left standing.

We have a TV show here called Highway Thru Hell and it's about a towing company that has to deal with accidents on the major highways in BC/Alberta. It's so scary!! I live in southern Ontario so I don't have to deal with such extremes.. just 100F and a few times each summer, the odd -40 F winter day, the occasional ice storm and sometimes like a foot of snow. A foot of snow is a lot where I am though. We don't have to plug in our cars either. Alberta's weather seems crazy from over here, I couldn't handle it.

This is messed up. I'm in Ontario so I didnt feel that but ya weather patterns are all changing around the world. Strange things are happening tbh. Calling MaRy right noe to clear things up

I'll be in Canada next year and I asked to be there during the summer because I want to avoid this kind of weather and now this happened and I'm worried

This doesn't happen often. In fact, this is the earliest snowfall that I can remember in my entire lifetime. (I'll be 26 in December.)

Usaully it doesn't come until October/November.
