Katy worked with her dancers for over two years on tour. She invited ALL her dancers back for PRISM because they all got along and they knew her style. The dancers, who have stated that they were bored on Taylor's tour because they weren't really dancing much, made the decision to leave.
Taylor said in the interview that the "business" side was the only reason they were "enemies", so if we're believing Taylor, John Mayer isn't a factor. I think Taylor is taking it out on Katy when it's not her fault.

Taunting Swift with insults disguised as jokes is very junior high. Katy is a successful woman in her thirties now, so it's pathetic but hilarious that she was that bothered by Taylor in the first place.
