Austin police have a warning for men partying on 6th Street in downtown Austin -- watch your drinks and hold onto your wallets.
Several men have reported being drugged and their credit cards stolen by the time they "came to" after meeting women at bars and clubs in the entertainment district.
While credit card abuse is not uncommon, police say the specifics of these cases are unique.
Police say they received reports in late September and twice on October 18th of a group of black females who approached white males ranging in age from 18 to 36.
The women met the men on 6th Street. Police say all three men admitted they were drinking but only one says he was intoxicated.
Two of the men were offered and accepted rides from the women, and then both of them woke up in hotel parking lots with no knowledge of what had happened.
They both returned home only to find their wallets had been rifled through and their credit cards were missing. In all three cases, the credit cards were charged about $3,000 within a few hours of the incident happening.
Police showed surveillance photos from a South Austin Wal-Mart where the women were seen allegedly buying gift cards and other items.
As far as the suspects' tactics in approaching the men, police say it was different in all three incidents.
"One of the guys reported being approached by one female. Another of the victims reports going into one of the bars with a whole group of females that he met on the street, and that his friends waited for him on the street," said Sgt. Justin Newsome, APD Financial Crimes unit. "He was in there for a long period of time, so his friends left him. And he's one of the ones who woke up in a hotel parking lot without knowing how he got there."
Because all three men lost consciousness and lost all memory of what had occurred, police say it's possible they were drugged.
Police say the three men were picked up at three different bars, but they could only confirm one of the bars -- it's called Peckerheads on Sixth.
