Is Gaga the benchmark for pop music today?
According to Guinness, all the other pop stars are "benchmarked to Lady Gaga," who sits at the top of this year's most powerful pop star list, again. Do you agree with them? Is Gaga the benchmark for success in the music industry right now, and do all the other pop stars look up to her in their own careers and artistic choices?

She sort of set the stage for a certain era in the pop world
That being said the era is probably over and it wasn't a particularly good one

No, I would say the benchmark is a combination of Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
Beyonce's celebrity, star-power, critical acclaim and live performance/live vocal ability. Taylor's strong/large fan base, "ultimate best friend" factor and songwriting skills. Rihanna's beauty, style influence, general coolness, studio vocals and singles/charting success.

Of our generation? Britney is. No one has been able to duplicate or even come close to it and a lot of people are compared to her peak. Gaga included
