All of those actually did something new though. iTunes popularized digital downloading, iPod revolutionized how we consume music, and the iPhone revolutionized how we use our phones. The iWatch is basically just an extension of your phone with much more limited capabilities, and it costs more than the phone.

Looks like I'm getting the Moto 360.

It's about introducing something the consumers want but do not yet. Like the iPhone was.

Apple actually talked about making the watch before samsung came along and released theirs first. This has been in the pipeline for awhile.
