At the end of the day, no matter who introduced these policies and rules into their society, they have their own minds. They can decide what they believe to be right and wrong. If colonialism introduced homophobia, why didn't they abolish laws such as these post-Independence. They choose these laws. They are the only ones to be held accountable. Other countries have moved forwards, they have not. It is their doing.

The damage done was tremendous, religious, social and economic structures were destroyed and not to forget that most of the laws criminalizing homosexuality was passed by European colonial governments

I feel so bad for what has happened there and is still happening.. Not just people's lives that are lost, but also culture, natural resources, etc. and right now with the corrupt governments it's not really moving forward at the rapid rate that is possible for most countries. I wonder if African countries will have their sweatshop fase, and if they do, when. I think that it'll happen in 2025+, tbh.
