Say Something is so underrated. it should have been a hit. It's like that is what got me into Mariah really. i mean I was to young to understand the whole Glitter thing. If it wasn't for It's like that I don't think I would like WBT.

I still FAIL to see the life changing greatness of "Say somethin" that everyone sees. I've been trying.

She has nothing to prove at this point, does she? The best selling/chart performing female artist of all time. I mean nobody can come close to her radio hits and albums. I'm not trying to be biased, but Mariah is simply the best modern singer. She writes, composes, sings amazingly well, collaborates, etc. She is forever embedded with the nineties, and will always be remembered for TEOM. Done deal. She can basically do what she wants at this point and have fun doing it.

She is not the best modern singer. Her voice is not that great anymore. You have to be able to sing and dance. The only people who come to mind are Beyonce and Keyshia Cole.

Keyshia is horrible live, did you see her at the BET awards? I like some of her songs but her voice sounds rough and not trained.

My heart. You just cut it.
Keyshia Cole gets nervous when she gets out of her nerves she is a beast. And I didn't think that BET awards was bad....Oh who the hell am I kidding it was worst than Britney's but still Keyshia is amazing.

you have to be able to sing and dance to be a good SINGER? That makes no sense... And yes, Mariah is the best modern singer based on her voice when it was in its top shape. It's not fair to compare someone in their 20's to someone who's almost 40.

If it was 1990 - 2000 yes Mariah would be the best singer. But now Leona, Christina, Keyshia, and Beyonce are giving her a run for her moeny.

^ She IS the best modern singer, Beyonce and other Diva-wannabe can't ever catch up with her.
To who think her music is worse compare to almost 20 years ago: be fair. The music industry now is such a mess. It's not the 90's anymore. Some ***** like I Kissed A Hoe, Lollisuck ... grabbed the 1 # spot on Billboard. It's the "mainstream" nowaday. So Mariah has to put these "mainstream" flows in her music. Will you buy a new Mariah album that have songs like Vision of Love, Vanishing, Love Takes Time?

That's because their voices haven't gone through all those years of wear and tear. It's just not a fair comparison. She still holds her own and outsings MOST of the bitches out there. She has made her mark on the music industry already regardless.

But one thing I don't get is why she ain't impacting the charts.
Okay Bye Bye was a bad choice for a 2nd single, but IBLULT was a really, really good song, reminiscent of Dreamlover, Fantasy yaddah when she just vocalizes increasingly over the repeated parts that are sung by the back up singers, and IBLULT didn't crack the top 50.
Are people sick of Mariah? Are the songs not good enough? Or do they just think 'Mariah can't sing anymore' and forget about her?

Mariah has lost her it factor. When the Emancipation era the performances were good. They weren't great but they were good. This era there were hardly any good performances. Not to mentain the single choices. Touch my body great choice. Bye Bye boring single choice. IBLYLT Great single choice. I stay in love boring single choice.
She just messes herself up with boring songs.

She lost her audience after "bye bye". After that, radio tuned out. I think that her canceling radio shows and tv appearances had to do with it to.

Bye Bye killed the momentum. It's hard for anyone to come back from a flop 2nd single. I'll admit now that it was a flop, because even though it peaked pretty high it was not the kind of hit you need to keep momentum going. Her buzz factor wore off, things were focused on her personal life instead of on her album because she married that loser. Her performances were subpar and for SOME REASON she just stands still on stage lately. It breaks my heart because I want her to succeed :-/ I am just SO upset with the way this album has been handled. Bye Bye should never have been single #2. Migrate screams first or second single and it wasn't even released at all. Side Effects is perfect for radio - also ignored. This album could have been just as big as Mimi because the songs are BETTER. People (including the grammy academy apparently) just SEE the album as less because it's not getting the same attention, which could have been a totally different story.
On top of it all Z100 has been incredibly unsupportive after TMB as well, and that certainly didn't help. You would think her hometown radio station would give a ****. Ok I need to stop because I'm getting upset. lol.

I totally agree. I think her only chance at a #1 hit now is a fresh first single off a new album, and it MUST win back her radio listeners and the other 4.7million albums.
