VH1 Pays Tribute to P!nk's Aerial Stunts
... while wishing her happy birthday
While P!nk has been delivering hits since 2000, she’s been doing something the past five years that’s particularly amazing: Taking flight during her performances! If you’ve watched a recent televised P!nk performance, nines times out of 10 she’s suspended in the air. Whether held up by a harness, acrobatic sheets or a giant revolving ball (yup), P!nk is soaring like a G6 and cementing her place as pop music’s most daring performer. Seriously, how can she be upside down, contort herself into crazy positions and manage to sound pitch perfect?

The praise for her aerial stunts seems a bit redundant at this point. She didn't seem to get half as much praise until she started doing this. Screams gimmick to me.

If it was a gimmick, everyone would be doing it. But no one else is, because no one else can.
Take your jealousy elsewhere, you're embarrassing yourself.

She gets praise before no one else can do what she does. It's her trademark/signature style. How is it a gimmick?

I love Pink and think she's a great entertainer, but isn't she first and foremost a musician and artist? Shouldn't she be getting praised for her voice and music, not for her acrobatics? I understand that it's her signature style now, but when that is overshadowing her other talents, isn't that a bit of a problem? If I was a musician, I wouldn't like that people praised my physical skills more than my musical skills.
Also, I'd like to point out that Pink said this back at the beginning of her career:

Big productions, to me, are great — like, I love going to Vegas and seeing shows — but I think that sometimes it's distracting, especially when you are there to listen to the music. I remember being on tour with '’NSYNC, and I don't know if this is appropriate, but it was something like a $5 million stage, and to me that was just like, 'Man, I will take a box out there and stand on it with a microphone. I ain't spending that much money.' I love the shows that are in dingy little dark clubs, smoky, no production whatsoever. My stage show is raw and unpredictable. It's not a lot of choreography this time. There's practically no sequencing involved whatsoever. It's just instruments and a voice and incredible music. When there is a lot of sequencing or ProTools or DATs involved, it gets a little strange, so this is going to be definitely more organic.

Each to their own I guess. Have you seen her live? Her concerts have everything - including a small acoustic part which is only music. Now she's doing an acoustic album, too.
Most of the time her aerial acts are well planned choreographies which are made to add a new meaning to the song or make it visible. Glitter In The Air, Sober and Try are totally like this and that's why she deserves the praise. It's not gimmick, it would be if she were only doing it because no one else does.

Kudos to her. It's really dangerous to do this in every single performance. It's takes a lot of balls. Hope she doesn't fall one day.

Well she started doing those gimmicks in 2003. It's 2014 now and media talks about her these last 3 years.
You can now take a flying seat.
