Overexposure, especially in 2014, breeds contempt from music fans and radio. Iggy is doing a re-release or whatever because her album is mediocre, but established artists don't do that anymore. Labels would prefer a new album, and everyone is impatient. Four singles used to be the standard, but now it's three.
While someone was clearly trolling about Barnett contacting him, it would actually be smart of Katy to just release the next one as a remix, even if subtle, from the get go. Another reason her latest singles haven't done as well on iTunes is because the people that bought the seven (or however many) Teenage Dream singles and loved them decided to just buy Katy's album this time, so they already have the songs. FYI, that website had it flipped, though, and a remix version of the track that's currently slated as the next single hasn't even been discussed.

I wonder why three became the standard for singles. I loved the 90s 00s when there were four.
Loved the 80s when 5-7 were normal.

Discounts (and ads) have to be submitted three weeks in advance anyway.I'm not even sure how much of an iTunes boost Z100 adding the song would give it at this point--probably not enough to take it top 10. It'll be easier to gauge this single's longevity after this week, I think.
