I am currently reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller for AP US history. Has anyone else read this book? I absolutely hate it and I would like to know if the information on sparknotes (or any other similar website [that I hope one of y'all can point me to]) is reliable enough to allow me to ******** through the exam were taking tomorrow.
Isn't that a fictional account of the Salem Witch Trials? I read it as part of my Junior Year required reading. It was actually a lot of fun because we read the play version.

Shame on you for hating it.
Yeah it is. Its just so boring because its basically a retelling of all the Salem witch trials stories that I've been hearing since like preschool.
I hated the book too and the spark notes version/the equally as bad movie got me through class and the APUSH exam.
Such a tedious read. I can't believe schools are still using that outdated trash to teach.
How can you hate it? You have a cool supernatural black woman, a skanky little brunette who acts like she is a bad bitch and a whole bunch of juicy drama.

It was never interesting enough to keep my attention long enough. Same with Great Gatsby. Though the new movie did help me appreciate the story more.
I mean, I appreciate it's literary value but it clearly isn't really helping very much since the American education system is a failure and yet they still use the same books.
The Crucible is a ****ing classic; most people who say they don't like it either have very little imagination or literally don't understand what they're reading (which is a fair statement considering I read it in high school and half the class must have thought it was Ancient Egyptian )
You are a mess if you don't like The Crucible How dare you, one of the best books and by far the best book I had to read while in school(alongside 1984)
The Crucible is such an amazing play. And it's definitely not outdated. You have to understand that it was a parallel to what was happening in the1950s during the Cold War with mccarthyism where people were being falsely accused of being communists and getting blacklisted. Which is why the scene with John Proctor pleading for his name is so powerful.
