Then what should equate to massive sales? Big promo campaigns? Hype? Established fanbase? All of which Ariana has had this past year?
He's not making up 'excuses', he's giving reasons. An excuse is what you're actually trying to use right now by switching around the logic. "The album sales should be higher with all the hits and exposure she's had." "But..not all hits lead to album sales!" is blatantly using excuses.
Ariana isn't 'flopping', but for the amount of things she had going for her, she should've done better and you know that. Enough with the 'new artist' 'she's just starting' 'it's only her second album' stuff, for somebody having the ENTIRE industry back her with performances at every award show and an image that's mass appealing to many demographics, she simply should be selling more. But platinum isn't out of the question and she's already surpassed her peers (Demi, Selena) in terms of current relevancy/star power/selling power so it could be worse.
