What really goes on at pride parades?
I'm in the closet and plan to secretly go in October with a friend and just wanna know.. what actually goes on? Are there people actually having sex on the streets? Are cops beating people?
And apparently Meghan Trainor is performing at the one I'm going to and tbh that sounds awful.
My friend and I volunteered a one of the booths last June and from what I can tell, people just go there to have a good time and feel good about themselves
I wouldn't go, it's just some floats and other nonsense, I hate parades of all types. I've heard there are usually lots of flamboyant gays doing sexually-explicit things, anyone breaking indecency laws should be cuffed and thrown in jail IMO. Also they get drunk afterwards and disperse throughout the nearby streets and bards.

Aww that's what I wanna do.. Just be comfortable about myself and my sexuality. Instead of repressing it like I usually do. Did you have fun yourself?

Me and a bunch of other girls went and it was a lot of fun. I didn't see anyone actually engaging in sexual activity but one guy did flash his penis. Of course there were flamboyant gays, but so what? I saw no cops beating anyone either. Go.
Not the biggest fan but been to a few. Everytime, we've headed to a bar quite soon. You may see guys kissing but not a great deal else, unless you were to go looking of course.
Go to the festival after the parade- it's more fun and everyone is so judgement free honestly and just there to have a good time and embrace their sexuality

I see it more like a political statement:"Hey!We're here,we are gay,deal with it!".It has history,it's not just fun and rainbows.

Go and experience it yourself.I'm sure you'll have fun and you'll probably feel empowered
Some of them are fun but some of them are messy. If you want to go than I would say go, you might have a really great time. And even if you hate it at least you tried it and you'll know not to go to one again in the future.
I went by accident 'cause my friend worked at this kettle corn stand and I thought it was a music festival but it was gay pride I got hit on by so many drag queens it was a mess, like they approached me and everything.
But it's good for an ego boost I'd say gooo. Never know who you might run into there, maybe a future hubby
