I wouldn't respond to James Woods either. He's rather controversial. As for the DJ's, she probably does privately. Some already stated in the past that she sends them personal thank you notes.
The writer for the Telegraph UK? who gave her stellar review for Red Concert at the O2 said she wrote a personal thank you and invited her back w/a guest to watch the concert again. She took her up on it and brought her young niece.
What about people like Janis Ian and Kelly Clarkson and other big names that have supported her publicly? Sure a personal note is fine but sometimes people need and want to be acknowledged publicly when they've done so for you. Otherwise its like they tried to high-five you and you didnt connect. Sure it might not be intentionally ignoring them but still makes them not so inclined to further give public support.
