Similar to Ed, I still think Lorde as the perfect opener of 1989 world tour, Ed delayed his sophomore album after the hugely successful "The A Team". Lorde was also over-exposed because of "Royals", it's not a good idea to release her next album very soon. On the other hand, touring with Taylor will be the best decision for Lorde's team to make. Think about Ed and his hugely successful album X.
Edit: Some people might think Lorde is too big to be opener now, but sometimes you have to think several steps further to make good decision, they can learn something from Elton John who gave very good suggestions to Ed regarding the similar decision.
