Rate The Music is a service available to anyone to rate (including and primarily fans) while Mediabase callout research is done by a company that compiles average people to listen and rate songs. That's why there is a huge familiarity gap between the two. TIHWD 88% familiarity amongst 18-24 as compared to mediabase which only shows a 62.7% familiarity.
Mediabase tests the songs out nationally, this information is provided to radio to determine what to play...
From Mediabase:
Quote:
· Tests for each format are conducted on a national basis.
· All formats test 25-50 current songs, depending on the format's emphasis on current music.
· Every week, every significant new song is selected (significant defined by monitored airplay, or major release) and tested against a national panel.
