This. Record sales nowadays are just not great....I don't get why people are still trying to bash artists for sales like these when they're becoming the norm.

She still could reach Platinum though. Pure Heroine and Bangerz didn't have a big openning week and they went Platinum.

With the way things are going now she'd probably open with 250k

Lana wasn't truly a letdown, all things considered. West Coast wasn't big enough to gain enough traction for album longevity. So she did respectably for herself.

Given their prior statuses, however, Interscope's veteran acts like Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, and Nelly Furtado have been slipping majorly. Part of that has to do with the overall quality of their recent works being substantially lower than their prior efforts, as well as simple lack of effective marketing in some cases.

At this point, it's all up to how her label chooses the future singles.

I think they should release the 3rd by the end of September - BF isn't doing a ton to sell the record and it's middling out already. Hopefully they choose Love Me Harder, and if not that, then Break Your Heart Right Back. She needs another song with the same punch and irresistibility as Problem.

Maroon 5's sales are totally expected. They are nowhere near as disappointing as Ariana's.
