ARTPOP because it was sooner after BTW than Bionic was after B2B and she was way bigger during BTW than Xtina was before Bionic. It wasn't a huge surprise she flopped.

Bionic was iconic though.

This is true, I meant like music blogs/critics. Most of the world doesn't talk about or notice Gaga/Xtina.

Bit of a tie. AP had it somehow coming seeing as both Applause & DWUW weren't catching up to previous single success. In terms of album sales it's clearly Gaga although the decline in single success was steadier than X's.

Bionic and it's not even close. When they first announced Not Myself Tonight on the radio, I was ready for the slayage... I never thought she'd flop. I still love her tho.

Bionic was the bigger disappointment. ARTPOP did 1.7M and sold over 5M singles WW and has a tour that will gross at least $50M. Bionic sold 800k, 2M singles WW and had its tour canceled, despite Christina planning to tour with Leona.

Statistically AP may have been the bigger decline, but Gaga is still an A-lister and still sold well compared to her peers. Bionic, on the other hand, gave artists like P!nk, Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift and ADELE (among others) a chance to pass Christina in TEAs despite Christina slaying so early on.

Fixed a couple of numbers, but I agree with this. artRave will far outdo $50M too, but the point still stands.

Thing is, Christina took a much bigger hit. She couldn't even do an arena tour after Bionic... That's a pretty big fall from grace. B2B wasn't huge, it sold a decent 4 million, but the tour was extremely successful, grossing 90 million.

But Gaga is still performing all around the world. I think ARTPOP has done okay considering. It's like she purposely tried to alienate her casual fans after 2010, so I think we should have seen this coming. 2 million sold, in this climate, is not that bad. It's an underperformance, but she's doing okay.
