What do you think of Chinese Ghost Cities? For those who don't know, they're these big cities build for thousands (some millions) of people. The thing is, barely anyone inhabits them....but the Chinese keep building anyway

Ohhh, I saw a documentary about these a while ago. So creepy.

I read about them the other week. It's crazy how these cities were projected to host millions of people but ended up being unused or inhabited by homeless people (who aren't homeless anymore now clearly).

I've been to one They are cool and kinda nice to look at. And I'm sure, as China's economy develops more, they will eventually become inhabited.

Are there hoping to use them later on? I mean we all know the population there is huge, so maybe this is some weird idea to idk make space ? This is really weird

I think you're right. They stand in the middle of deserted areas where new industries will probably be built. I'd love to visit one, but I guess going to Detroit would be cheaper

By the way, there's a bunch of ghost towns in north-east Siberia (the Magadan area), much smaller than these Chinese cities but just as interesting

These ghost cities are nothing but long term fixed investment done by chinese government by the surplus money they receive from Macau and Hong Kong.

Chinese government regulate the value of the currency and flow of money in market . Whenever they feel like devalue their currency they take huge sum of money out from the market and make such **** up . This also is value addition to their growth in infrastructure, which will later be shown as "development" later on and is a loophole/shortcut to attain higher percentage of growth rate

This is pretty cool. I imagine that they will become populated as new companies settle in and start looking for employees. There's still a big amount of people living in rural areas who eventually will need to migrate to urban settings.
