The only 3 songs on the album that could've worked with the album's musical, visual, and conceptual ideas were "Aura", "ARTPOP", and "Applause". They all would've made for interesting lead singles.
I really loved Madeon's 'Finale' and hoped AP would be filled with that lush-type production, hence why Aura and MJH are two of my favourite AP sings (they're brilliant objectively anyway so that helps)
It's only just struck me how close Venus is to hitting gold. It's like this super campy disco number with all the psychedelia and space fascination of the 60's.
Like the bridge screams cheap 60's sci fi, it's like the voiceover for a miss universe beauty pageant. I think they needed to inflate the disco/funk influences. I mean, you have 90s MJ with 'Take me to your planet' and almost Abba with the chorus. It could have been real, self-aware/referencing kitsch pop gold
If you listen to the Graham Norton, Muppets special, and artRAVE versions of the song, there's this little funky guitar part that's especially audible during the "goooooooddess of loooooooove" parts that I love. I wonder how the song would've sounded if it was made with more live instruments.
I hope Gaga performs DWUW on her future tours for a little while more. It's so fun live. But I wouldn't mind if she did that with Venus, but it obviously won't happen since it was never a single
At least we'll always have Applause!

Yeah, I loved the Venus arrangement on the Muppet special. Probably a bit too rock for what would have worked best, but nonetheless more acoustic elements would have really brought that song to a new level.
I love Aura because in my mind, I have this very special performance of it envisioned. The end would be so legendary. Kinda wish Gaga would steal it from me.

It is gold.
VENUS should not have been thrown into the GUY film so carelessly. The song deserved it's own Klein/Hogben masterpiece video.
