Rihanna has sold more albums, period. Until Katy surpasses her album sales, there is nothing but the truth in that statement. And I agree that they sell at pretty much the same nowadays but considering the amount of effort Katy puts in one single era is perhaps more than what rih puts in three, one would hope she did more than sell similar to her and btw Prism hasn't outsold Unapologetic WW yet so Rih still sold more albums even going by their previous releases

More successful singles, more successful albums, more critical acclaim, more awards, more industry respect, better grossing tours, better live performer.
