Why is there so much hate for singing competion shows now?
It seems many people here want American Idol, X-Factor, etc. cancelled. Why? Is it because you find the format stale now? It's been around too long? Too many similar shows?
because theyre boring now and they never make stars anymore. Its the same thing every year, the winner puts out a rushed album/EP and it flops horribly
1) No new stars are emerging
2) It has become a business arrangement for the judges to promote whatever new music they have
3) They're all becoming the same show
It's just far too formulaic. Every single contestant has a sob story, a dead aunt, a hardworking mother who sacrificed it all for them, a tough time getting bullied for being fat/gay/a weirdo/talentless/on x factor. Then the judges all fit into their stale role of the mean one with the discerning eye for talent, the bitch to disagree with the mean one, the bright eyed hopeful who always says something nice and cries at every opportunity, and the fourth judge who tries to be the mean one but no one actually cares what he says or thinks because he's not the mean one.
Watching another year of that show would be literally like if you watched the vampire diaries, and five seasons in they were still just replaying that same tired storyline of Elena being with either Damon or Steffan, but wanting the other. Oh wait...
Because no one becomes famous after them, this goes specially for The Voice. The X Factor was sort of a flop in the US but it still produced artists who are at least able to chart in the Hot 100 after the show is over like Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony. American Idol is dying but it gave us Underwood, Lambert, Daughtry and Clarkson. But nowadays the concept seems so overused and no one has come out of one in a long time. I feel like The Voice is just being used by Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera to promote their own songs rather than to help new artists emerge.
Saturated. AI was too powerful in its reign, no show has topped ratings that much ever. People need to wake up and watch scripted shows which are dying because of production costs next to reality TV.
