Prism is thematically very similar to Born This Way so I can see where the comparisons are coming from. Katy just managed to execute the era much better than Gaga did.

Maybe that's not such a bad thing? Clearly taking risks doesn't seem to work in Gaga's favour commercially. It was smart of Katy to stick to an appealing sound and digestible lyrics -- if she keeps going like this, it's safe to say her next era will not be an ARTPOP-sized mess.

But is commercial success really everything? I'm glad Gaga actually managed to evolve her sound and didn't keep releasing Just Dance type of songs for half a decade.
