Sean Kingston begs "put your hands up" at his free concert
Quote:
Sean Kingston really wants you to put your hands up.
Really.
The repeated refrain, "Put your hands up!" became almost a punchline in Kingston's 50-minute free show at Chevy Court Saturday afternoon.
"Are you ready for Sean Kingston?" he shouted to raucous applause. Then he shouted it again. And again. And again. And again. In between, he reminded everyone what to do with their hands. Again. And again. And again.
Kingston spent a total of just 30 minutes onstage. He rapped, sang and shouted through popular tunes like his debut single, "Beautiful Girls," the popular "Take You There" and his Nicki Minaj collaboration, "Letting Go." His backing tracks did most of the work, but the audience was mostly unconcerned as he rapped at least one verse of each tune.
For all intents and purposes, Kingston treated the afternoon slot like a nightclub show.
"Are you ready to get turnt up tonight?" he asked the 2 p.m. crowd. "Y'all have been great tonight," he added later.
After 50 minutes, the performance came to an abrupt close. Kingston thanked the crowd and walked offstage.[/b] His DJ remained onstage to finish the song and didn't leave until he got in one closing request.
