Both are good songs. Applause gives me The Fame Gaga teas which I miss and love Im hoping Gagas next album is filled with Applauses/DWUW. SIO is a fun catchy pop song which I loved at first but after playing it for a week or so Im starting to get sick of it...

Applause has a kind of generic chorus, but the verses are anything but. I remember hearing Applause on the radio and the verses were always a bit jarring.

Applause is not generic. Its production is a little basic/simple, but that's it.

SIO is the epitome of the generic Pop music so.....

Applause's instrumental is incredibly generic. It's just the stupid nonsensical verses/lyrics that make it unique.

Shake It Off is more generic I suppose. Still a better song though, shockingly.

I would never in a million years label Applause as generic.
And Shake It Off is as generic as it comes without being an Ariana song, so I voted for that.

I usually vote against Gaga in polls like this but this time there is simply no way around it, SIO is more generic but that is not bad since Taylor is evolving and becoming more pop. Also, Applause was not generic lyrically but it was musically.

Applause is generic in it's production. The only distinctive thing about it is Gaga's Bowie-like delivery in the verses.

SIO is more by the numbers though. But it's a better pop song too.

Just because it reminds you of Gaga circa The Fame that doesn't mean it's a generic song
