That comment may or may not have been sarcastic but I'm pretty sure some people feel that way, so I do want to address something.
GaGa has been nothing but nice to her fans, gave them pizza when they queued for concerts, always made a point of expressing love for them, encouraged them to be who they are by being who she wants to be, she always gives shoutouts to the fans who make her gifts... There are countless examples of Gaga treating her fans with great respect and appreciation. And a number of them repay her by giving her misguided career advice.
She basically tells her fans "be who you wanna be" and their answer to that is "this is how you get a #1, do it". It has got to be frustrating at some point.
