Honestly all journalists, humanitarian workers, etc all know the risk and life threatening forces they deal with when they pick up assignments in these regions. I feel personally they do this to expose what others wouldn't. James Foley, I feel, already knew his demise. Regardless of what we send or do, these extremists will more than likely kill them anyways.

Exactly. Who knows what the ISIS plan to do? They kidnapped these people at least one year ago, certainly they're plotting something even more deadly. Anyone volunteering in areas with high violence are aware of the consequences that may befall upon them.
