I think it's the best for US to have it 21 really, people will drink anyways but #oop when they get caught drunk driving. Like, it was raised for a reason. and you already got the goodie to drive when you're 16 so
People prioritize alcohol too much. Perhaps you need to prioritize some water, it's healthier. It's not like people under 21 in the U.S. never get to touch a bottle until that age, too.
It's also worth mentioning that the U.S. has a huge car culture the other countries do not have, therefore you get lots of states that allow teens to drive as young as 15. Match that with a low alcohol consumption age and you get all sorts of auto related fatalities and accidents. They're never pretty.
1) American teenagers are already borderline alcoholics, why make alcohol more accessible?
2) More money being PUMPED into the casinos. If you go to the casino, most waitresses will try to coerce you into drinking, which will opt you to spend more money you don't have. Also, the gambling age is 21 (contrary to Topherfy said on the first page. Vegas such a cash cow because of this.
Oops! Buying lottery tickets is legal at 18, and that's a form of gambling, so I just grouped it all together. My bad.
