Longevity. A song can stay between 30 and 50 for a long time and still manage to sell a great amount. A good example is of course Duffy's "Mercy". Not exactly a big peak in the US, but hell, it's managed to sell nearly 700,000 copies!

It was just never able to reach a lot of people in one week, but it was still able to reach a good amount of people overall.
