With the VMAs being tonight and the leaked setlist
of her performing her entire album
not to mention she made sure people would be able to buy the album right after her performance by putting it back up as a banner on iTunes. I must say if Beyonce has not convinced you by now JUST DEAL with the fact that she really not focused on Single success. She has not discounted her album yet and its sold over 3.5 million copies (while being more expensive than the average album). She has done everything to market this album as a whole and to not truly focus on separate singles.
Following her VMA performance tonight, with all the things she's set in place from the setlist, to the iTunes Banner to the FOCUS driven on the ALBUM and not the SINGLE, do you think it'll be successful and BEYONCE will make a resurgence in the Top 15 or 10 of iTunes? Or do you think the SONGS will fair better?
Also, why would she keep releasing singles if she doesn't want to sell singles? -- and before you use the singles sell albums excuse, they haven't exactly risen BEYONCE's sales by a notable amount.
I don't think she's doing it to try and sell more of the album. I think she's doing it because the release strategy was iconic. It was the first visual album. Every song had a music video. Considering it's the VMAS (an awards show that specifically celebrates music videos) why wouldn't she perform a self-titled medley?
Add the fact that she already did a greatest hits medley (including a DC reunion) at the Superbowl and you've got your answer. Her family is worth over a billion dollars. I doubt she cares about a few more $15 sales on iTunes.

When has she TRULY done a single release though
XO was the last song she actually RELEASED. as the main single from this album.
Drunk In Love was just sent to Urban and crossed over on its own. Partition was just sent to Urban Pretty Hurts was supposed to be sent to POP and then it was canceled. ***Flawless has only been sent to Rhythmic.
She has only 3 televised performances of her "singles" One for XO one for Drunk In Love and one for Partition. ALL MONTHS in between each other.
So once again just because she sends a song to radio (and not even the biggest radio platform at that to garner sales (Top 40) but the lessor ones, she obviously doesnt care about Single success. She has not promoted the "singles" and the fact that you dont see that ......

Well she only releases to urban radio (and rhythmic) which has been undeniably loyal to her. Nothing has been officially released to top 40 stations since XO. Bey ain interested in payin em to get her music played.

To be fair though, if a single's good enough, it'll slay on its own. No promo required.

Well you could say that about any music artist well the big ones at least. So that's not really a good reason.

That's her choice to not promote them. The fact is, she still released them as singles
There have been maaaany songs which have slayed the charts with zero promo

Lol exactly! Just because she can no longer sell singles doesn't mean she DGAF about it,she does.
But now that'l she realizes that she can no longer sell single, she gonna devote less energy into it,simple as that!
Yes, i see the album's resurgence for some days
It will fall later, but well, get those coins
"It will fall later"
Who says stuff like that? Well duh even the no1 album at the moment will fall later. Thats kinda how it works. Whats with u Taylor stans trying it lately anyways? Did i miss something on atrl?

I disagree. Payola on Radio, Vevo Views, Performances, Sponsors/Commercials, etc all factor into promo. And i cant think of any songs recently that have had LONGEVITY (I'm not talking about songs that shot into the top 10 and its only like their 3rd or 4th week) im saying songs that have had LONGEVITY without any type of promo.
Eventually you need to promote it you won't stay on top with sitting around don't nothing, no matter how good the song is.

The user was obviously saying the VMA promo won't have much longevity on returning the album near the top of the charts
