These were not risks that bolstered her artistic integrity, in fact they only hurt that, and on top of that they did not even pay off commercially. It was just a complete fail all around.

It's interesting how ARTPOP is Lady Gaga's only era that is eligible when considering her risk-taking factor. Weird.
The Applause lyrics and video, her attempt to do something other than just a boring dance-pop album, the SXSW performance, her outfits, etc. everything about Gaga is risky tbh. She's an average girl doing music in a world where you have to look like an airbrushed Megan Fox in order to achieve "GP" adulation.
And following up a commercial failure with a jazz duet album full of polished covers is also just another failure to you? Whatever. It's definitely risky to do what you want.
All around I'd say the ARTPOP era was pretty risky for Gaga. Coupled with the huge Born This Way single release, her fashion statements, her continued persistence on sticking to her image, etc. all of that is risky. Gaga is not a cookie cutter pop star no matter how much you hate her.

Nice try though.
