The War On Drugs, Deerhunter, and the National are three of my favorite bands this decade. Halcyon Digest is truly phenomenal. High Violet and Lost in the Dream/Slave Ambient are truly remarkable as well.
The Chromatics album Kill For Love was actually my personal favorite of 2012, ever so slightly edging out good kid, m.A.A.d. city.

I totally agree with this statement

Grimes is an artist to look out for definitely, and she has the capability to be one of the best artists of this decade and possibly all time if she does not lose focus.

I don't know what it is really that made me fall in love with "vowels = space and time" slightly more than the other tracks. I just find her vocals and the production on that track so freeing. There is not a dull moment on the album though.
Yes! I'm sure you will like them.

Oh, well that's good to hear! There's nothing wrong with being mainstream, it's just that mainstream music has gradually suffered a total collapse in quality over the years. Anyway, I'll recommend this:

Sharon Van Etten - Are We There
I think it's my favorite of the year so far. It's kind of like cathedral, folksy sadcore. I know that may not sound super appealing, but it really is amazing. I would say if you don't mind some drama and immensity, then definitely give it a spin.

Agree, I have grown tired of mainstream music, especially in the last year or so. Oh I have heard of this album (I have only listened to "Every Time the Sun Comes Up"), but it sounds like an interesting record. I will definitely listen to it soon. Thank you!

Kill For Love is #44 on the list, so I will definitely give it a spin soon! And you have great taste, I hope to see more of your posts in this thread.

I heard "Go" though, and I hope she does not put that on any of her albums. It's a bit of a mess, and I was expecting a lot more from her.

Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of 2010s (Albums I Have Listened To In Full So Far):
#1, #2, #3, #6, #8, #9, #12, #15], #19, #22, #36, #39, #41, #43, #46, #55, #65, #67, #76, #89
My thoughts on Crystal Castles' 'Crystal Castles (II)':
The only Crystal Castles song I had ever heard prior to listening to this album, was "Not In Love" feat. Robert Smith and I thought it was a great track, I just never bothered to listen to any more of the album the track originated from (I don't know why, because reasons). I am glad that I decided to listen to it now though. '(II)' is by no means a perfect record, and I did not fall in love with every track, but there is enough substance and style here to make this a worthwhile record to listen to. The standouts for me were "Fainting Spells", "Celestica", "Baptism", "Suffocation", "Vietnam", "Pap Smear", "Not In Love", and "I Am Made Of Chalk". All of these tracks were a joy to listen to, and were some of the most interesting electronic tracks I have heard this decade (so far). Where '(II)' struggles, is in its core. It starts off incredibly strong (the first 4 tracks) and ends incredibly strong (the last 4 tracks), the middle of the record just seems to drag on at some points ("Year of Silence", "Empathy", and "Birds" in particular) and focuses too much on themes that are not particularly interesting. Where I think Crystal Castles shines, is on the tracks that are more defined, the ones that seemingly know what they want to be (such as "Baptism", "Celestica", and "I Am Made Of Chalk"). My favorite song from the album would have to "Baptism". It reaches peaks of energy and a defined sound that is simply missing from some tracks on '(II)'. Crystal Castles seem to be at their best on tracks like these, and I wish there were a few more of them on this record. Overall, '(II)' is still one of the strongest electronic albums I have heard in the past few years though and is definitely worth listening to.

It was a good song i thought but i don't think it's on her album cause she even said she had it written with Rihanna in mind to have it but i still wouldn't mind it

It's a good song but I want more Halfaxa. Also a new track would replace it and the video looks great anyway

I am not here for the drop. It just does not sound good to me. Her vocals are flawless though, and the video looks great.

Replace "Doe Deer" with "Celestica" and then yes!
I have not listened to their 1st or 3rd albums yet, but I have added them to my ever growing list of albums that I have to listen to in the future. I can see myself really being a huge fan of their music though.

Why does everyone hate Doe Prayer
(I) is like a rougher version of (II), (III) is smoother. If really recommend them tbh

Empathy is definitely the best track on (II) though.
"Go" is just a single, y'all. It's great anyways.
Kill For Love is a must listen. Do it asap.

My thoughts on Chromatics' 'Kill For Love':
After listening to this album in full a couple of times, I am still unsure how I feel about it. I mean there is definitely something here, something incredibly unique and worth listening to, but I just cannot place what that is. Every time I listen to the tracks from this album, it really puts me in a sort of dream state. All the tracks work brilliantly together, and all flow together in harmony, but still retain enough individuality to make them enjoyable. The sound of Chromatics is so utterly mystifying on 'Kill For Love', that you ultimately end up feeling like your mind is in another world. It is a beautiful world though, and a world worth visiting. The standouts for me were "Into the Black", "Kill for Love", "Lady", "The Eleventh Hour", "Running From the Sun", "Birds of Paradise", "There's a Light Out On the Horizon", and "The River". "Into the Black" was my favorite track for me on this album. I love that Chromatics incorporates synths within their music, but this track was just so beautiful without their evident presence. It felt like a classic 60s/70s rock song, and I loved it from start to finish. It is probably one of the most beautiful intro tracks I have ever heard on any album. Her voice is so damn gorgeous, and I feel that it shines the best on this track. Overall, 'Kill For Love' makes you feel like you are in a dream, a dream that is filled with bouncy synths and glorious voices, and a dream that you wish, sometimes, would never end.

My thoughts on Fiona Apple's 'The Idler Wheel Is Wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More than Ropes Will Ever Do':
Fiona Apple sounds like she is on the verge of utter insanity on 'The Idler Wheel...', but that is a good thing if it means she creates music as good as this. I mean this has to be the most raw album I have ever heard, it feels as though by the end of it that she has literally put her soul, at its most exposed and fragile, into this record. She has put everything in her life up until now into this record, and left it all for the world to hear. You can feel her ****ing soul on these songs. You can feel her insanity, her pain, her life on every one of these tracks, and that is what I find truly special about this album. It is a representation of the human spirit, her own human spirit, and it's ****ing brilliant. There are no standouts on this album, every single track is a standout, every single track is its own part of her soul. This album seems to be in the same vein as an album like 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', but also simultaneously opposite. Both are their respective artists at their most insane (and possibly true) except, 'The Idler Wheel...' succeeds without all the extravagant flare, it succeeds as a testament to the power of the human spirit. Does that make it a stronger album? That still is questionable, and far too close to call.

The Idler Wheel... is a fantastic album. I think my favourite tracks are Werewolf and Daredevil.

I recommend everyone listen to Lonerism by Tame Impala. It was top 10 on P4K's list I believe. It's so dreamy.

I've always liked this album but it wasn't until recently that I've grown to LOVE it. I think it's better than Innerspeaker.

I really liked Are We There. There were a few really funny lyrics. In a good way. I can't remember them off the top of my head though.
The Idler Wheel is obviously one of the best this decade.

I'm definitely going to listen to this album soon, but I don't want to get rid of all the top 10 albums so soon. I want to save them when I run into an album that I do not like. Haha.
