Yesterday, after rumors about divorce, Nick Cannon broke the silence and spoke with The Insider, confirming that he and his wife Mariah Carey are living in separate houses for months. And while his comments certainly have shocked fans of the couple who has been together for six years, it seems that no one was more surprised by this than the singer of 44 years old.
"Mariah was devastated by the comments that Nick did to The Insider," a source told E! News. "They had agreed to work together in an agreement. A document was prepared about everything when he was there and said that things at The Insider."
Nick not only confirmed that the couple was living separately, but also admitted that there is “trouble in paradise”, and adding that “the focus is on children.”
Meanwhile, a representative of Mariah said “I will not comment on the personal lives of Mariah, but she’s focusing on her children and on tour which is to be held.”
Not surprisingly, the source said that Mariah is less than happy with the statements of the partner.
"She can not believe he has been there and done that," the insider says. "It was not what they agreed and it was not elegant, too. He should not have said a word."
"She found it extremely childish, impulsive and opportunistic," the source said. "For her, this was the last straw. She cut ties him now."
"That’s going on for months," the source said, too. "And it has a lot to do with the career choices of Nick. He did not need to work but lives playing in huge projects."
Anyway, after Nick’s comments, it seems that their relationship has led to a much worse situation.
"It’s not friendly," the source revealed. "Things are getting ugly."
Once emerged Cannon’s comments appeared rumors that Mariah would have placed an order of silence in her husband of 33 years. Our source says that nothing was said about the confidentiality agreement, “but I would not be surprised. She is seriously pissed."
In May, Cannon spoke about marriage in an interview with Parade - after the sixth wedding anniversary of the couple, where they broke the tradition of annually renew their votes - and denied that there was any truth to the rumors of divorce.
"You need to ignore it because it comes out something different every week, and if you paid attention, it will probably begin to affect you … There is no merit or truth to it," he insisted. "It’s quite funny, really. This could not be farther from the truth, and it really undermines the credibility of newspapers."
