P!nk's 'Sober' & Beyonce's 'Single' Steal The AMAs
OK, so the red carpet at last night's American Music Awards was very ho-hum (judge for yourself) but thankfully I had several performances to keep me entertained. Kicking things off was Beyonce, and it doesn't matter that she's delusional or diva-licious - Mrs. Z (as Jimmy Kimmel called her) is always dependable when it comes to giving fans a killer show.

Last night she was once again rocking a metal hand as she danced it out to "Single Ladies" and put Christina Aguilera's highly publicized performance to shame. Christina looked down right high school musical next to B with repeated costume changes during her musical medley which never started getting better.

Also taking to the stage was a typically brilliant Alicia Keys, a typically overrated Mariah Carey (I love how Nick Cannon got to cameo, perhaps that's how she put him on the payroll) and a typically laser-light filled Kanye West performance that followed another typically humble acceptance speech.

Oh, and there was a Miley Cyrus song that didn't make me want to rip my ears off. However, I did want to gouge my eyes out during the 16-year-old's first of many seductive boob fondles - watch for it at the 20-second mark.

But standing head and shoulders above everyone was Pink with the stirring "Sober." It's just another ridonkulously good performance from the singer who has firmly established herself as one of the most original, creative and talented recording artists working today. I certainly never thought I'd be saying that back in 2000 when I was working out (alright, eating) to some random chick with Manic Panic hair singing "There You Go." But ever since she was able to take the reigns of her career we've been treated to some of the most fist-pumpingly anthemic albums ever.

Beyonce wasn't as good as usual and she kept messing up.

Christina was good... But I have to admit that she will never be as good as she was, the old legendary vocalist is over

Beyonce MURDER the AMA
The awards was sooo boring, Just watching her strut alone was entertaining.

The medley by Chritina was good, I mean I like all that songs ( except KGB) but she looked FUGLY AS HELL. I think the best performance was P!nk (AGAIN) and Beyonce was good but not great I liked Miley too

The Good:
Ne-Yo
He very easily earned the James Bond theme that his performance gets. That was as silky smooth an awards show performance as you'll see, and the big brass section actually made it feel funky. A deserving standing ovation at the close.

Beyonce
Except for maybe her future stepson-like-entity LeBron, nobody makes me just stare at the TV slackjawed like Beyonce. She is just born to perform. And "Single Ladies" is no "Crazy in Love" but it gets a little closer every time I hear it. Verse and chorus are basically the same thing, always a good move in my book. But Beyonce, just unbelievable.

Annie Lennox
She's always been about the art and performance aspect as much as anything else, so seeing her just alone at the piano was surprising. But she pulled it off. Especially refreshing after the pole-dancing antics of the Pussycat Dolls.

Rihanna
I really thought Rihanna surpassed Beyonce at the VMAs. But while Rihanna is still plenty captivating (and she looks a whole lot like Prince sometimes), she just can't match Beyonce. Not that we should be holding that against her.
