Does Ariana lack personality to be a Major Pop girl?
One of the Biggest Characteristics that the Major Popgirls have that makes them stand out from the others is having personality. Britney, Gaga, Rihanna to name a few all have interesting personalities outside their music that makes people curious about them. Does Ariana lack that edge to be a Major Popgirl?
Until she's able to sell albums she will NEVER be classified as major pop girl like Rihanna, Katy and etc are. And don't bring their album sales which are 4x bigger than Ariana's.
For me, she's a little too nice and sweet, without any edges. I feel like I have no clue who she is and what she's about, and that debars me from liking her.
I don't think it's her personality, she just hasn't done anything really revolutionary, she hasn't pushed the boundaries, or made people think outside of what they're use to. Which is basically what must come along with the music nowadays, that's why 2014 although we saw some female artists breakthrough Iggy, Lorde, Ariana, Charli XCX. They didn't really feel like they were holding the torch at one point, the last pop star to do that was really Miley, love her or hater her, granted she didn't really carry the torch for long, so I don't know if it counts, but I'm sure she'll have new music to further that growth. and before her it was Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, the list goes on.
She's the modern day Mariah Carey. Meaning, she's just a pretty girl who can sing without anything else to offer. The difference between her and Mariah is the fact Mariah is by far the better singer and Mariah's debut single was an instant classic.
