Girl stabbed and robbed after hearing female's cry for help

A young woman was stabbed and robbed in a park after hearing screams and going to help.
The 20-year-old woman was walking down the street late at night on Sunday when she heard screams from what she believed to be a woman in distress.
The victim carried on down Burnbank Road in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, towards the cries at around 11.30pm.
As she got closer she was approached from behind and struck before being knocked unconscious.
It is understood when she came back around she had been stabbed in the stomach, had cuts on her face and her purse had been taken.
Police have now launched in investigation into the attack and appealed for witnesses.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that Police Scotland detectives at Cambuslang CID are continuing inquiries following a serious assault and robbery in Bunrbank Road, Hamilton, around 11.30pm on Sunday August 17.
"The 20-year-old female was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to injuries following the incident. She has since been released.
"Anyone with any information regarding the assault is asked to contact detective constable Dan Pulfrey at Cumbusland police office on 101."
This happened to my friend, she saw a girl getting harassed by this guy in my city late at night, there were people around but nobody was helping, so she went over and told the guy to leave her alone, then he pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the leg, took her bag and ran off. So sad people would do this.
Stabbed? But I thought it was illegal to carry knives in the UK. Oh wait, that's right, that only prevents law-abiding subjects from carrying wee pocket knives.
She got stabbed not only because she was innocent, but she was even trying to help another person out.
So messed up. I hope people who do this, no matter where in the world, will live the rest of their life in distress in the worst way possible.
