Her entire "persona" is a record company's creation and the same cannot be said of Rihanna. Rihanna is an authentic and cool person (also highly intelligent) and that's why she's been so easily able to create commercial success when she tries. Katy is completely devoid of all that Rihanna-authenticity. She's so transparent.

Welp. All of this.
I'm not sure what I think about Ariana. She seems like a lovely girl and she evidently has a lot of talent but I don't think she had enough confidence in herself and her own personality to do what she'd like instead of letting her label dictate who she is as an artist. I mean if you're the type of person who doesn't like singing nonsensical lyrics, don't do it. I think that's great. Don't let people guilt you into thinking you're being too fussy. Ah well. I'll probably support her once she realizes that she needs to do what
she wants to do.
It's getting a wee bit hard to take Taylor seriously (I never could with her live performances but she always struck me as a great musician regardless) but I'll reserve my final judgement for later.
But yeah, Katy wins this effortlessly. Hardly any talent, hardly any self awareness, and no artistic integrity.
