Taylor is a HUGE star and an important one for many, but Beyonce is American Royalty. There's a reason her name has not left the headlines since she had a baby. Her and Jay are the American dream: the idea that if you work for it, you can achieve it. Now they are sitting on their billion dollars with their daughter and the whole world is watching their every move, speculating their every mood, discussing when Beyonce changes a word in her lyrics on stage, dissecting her tumblr posts, etc.
Taylor may sell more albums and singles currently but that is not a correlation of star power but buying popularity. Last I checked Brangelina is more of a star couple than other's, even if they haven't had a massive box-office hit in a while.
Beyonce may be bigger but Taylor is quite big herself too
