While I'm not too fond of her decision to leave behind country (I'm hoping she doesn't abandon the genre completely), and that's obviously reflected on critics' reviews of the single, she is not over! "A sales juggernaut no more" and "Long-time fans have escaped to find their piece of mind with K-Pop."
I think those numbers are still good.
She isn't over, at least give the song time to progress,
Probably after she performs the song on the VMAs it'll help more.
I fail to see how debuting with over 400k+ sales and having a 70% lead over the second song on Itunes = That she is over. She could be doing way worse, but this is great.
‘It’s a standard Katy Perry-style anti-haters anthem that could’ve been by anyone and is about nothing in particular. For someone whose gifts are about capturing the specific, that’s a fatal misstep. — Alex Macpherson’
No. But, I doubt 1989 will do as well as Red did.
Shake It Off is soooo mediocre, after the poor reception her label will probably call it a 'buzz single' and release another song.
