Nintendo Tightens Hold On Japan; Hyrule Warriors Debuts
Hyrule Warriors a Hit in Japan, Wii U Sales Jump
Quote:
Hyrule Warriors, a The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors crossover, launched in Japan last week with strong sales. The game sold 78,733 units in its first week, according to Famitsu. With the launch of the game sales for the Wii U jumped to 17,717 units.
The game is the second bestselling game in Japan for the week, behind Yokai Watch 2 which remains at the top. There are six 3DS games in the top 10 and two Wii U games. The other two games are for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3.
Hyrule Warriors launched in Japan on August 14. The game will be released in Europe on September 19 and on September 26 in North America.
Such a shame that they're now focusing on the mobile market instead. The difference in quality is just so crazy between the home console market and the mobile market
It's kind of interesting to observe the consoles that are successful in Japan right now. For 8th generation consoles, the Wii U is leading the pack, and then somehow the Playstation Vita is also actually selling averagely there. Haha. It's great though for Nintendo. I probably will not purchase Hyrule Warriors, but am looking forward to a few of their upcoming Wii U releases (Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World), and do not want them to fail.
