The thing that sucks to me is that people will go far lengths to discredit her even though she's already doing something many artists don't do. There will be people that will call it boring and not for her just because it's Gaga. I guess it's just going to take me a bit to get over it.

I agree, its annoying. This is something that not many other (if any, really) current pop stars could do, and it is going to give her a lot of critical acclaim while exposing her to a whole new audience.
They could've given Applause a nomination, at least in the technical categories. Some of the videos that were nominated are just Applause was still one of the biggest singles and videos of the past year, and Gaga has given that show ratings and press and publicity time and time again. They were wrong for paying her dust.
I think it's been universally decided that the VMA nominations this year (and lineup) are one of their all-time worst (who really wants to hear Anaconda or Bang Bang?), hence them promoting Bey's medley like crazy. Could have been a little bit better had they nominated Le Gags!

Eh... last year was all about Miley twerking on Robin Thicke. They're not obligated to continually pay attention to her videos, just like the Grammys aren't obligated to pay attention to either ARTPOP or Cheek To Cheek. Besides, not being nominated SHOULD send a message to her that she needs to step her game up in all areas.
