You may say, sure, there are plenty of artists who are popular and respected, why Beyoncé? Well, Beyoncé is an institution. There is a reason the media refers to her as Queen Bey, not just her stans. There is a reason that cups and t-shirts are printed with the catchprase, "You have as many hours in the day as Beyoncé" and there is a reason that phrases from non-singles become put into popular language ("I woke up like this", "Freakum Dress") and words from hit singles get put into the dictionary ("Bootylicious") and words from non-hit singles become catchphrases too ("Who run the world?"). It is because she is highly engrained into pop culture and because she is highly good at what she does. She isn't just pop, she IS pop. She represents perfection for so many different types of people. That flawless star that gives it 300% and dazzles you onstage. You can rely on that and that is legendary.

In addition to that she has her separate work as the lead singer of one of the biggest groups of all time, Destiny's Child. In that group she defined the early 2000s girl-group. She and her bandmates had mega hits and inspired a whole other generation of artists, many of which are now Beyoncé's peers.

Much have been said about legends on ATRL, but when it comes down to it, we need to look no further than the definition:
a famous or important person who is known for doing something extremely well
