She said herself this was her first 100% pop record. It was almost like she was checking herself out of qualifying for the CMAs considering there's been a bit of debate in the past about whether or not 'Red' was eligible for nominations considering it was a country/pop hybrid.
Honestly, I think it's a natural transition. I don't understand why when someone transitions out of pop into country or jazz or house or rock, everyone says they're experimenting and are being artistically daring. But the second someone transitions IN to pop, like Nicki from rap or Taylor from country, they're labelled a sellout. It's the biggest, most enjoyed genre in the entire world. What's so wrong with wanting to reach a broader audience? Especially if they're pop fans themselves.
It's a pop record. It's not a goodbye to country forever. Going travelling overseas will never change where you're from.
She should pull a "Sasha Fierce"... One pop and one country single.
That's what she should've done. All the crossover artists do that. She shouldn't have abandoned her country roots. I like her pop songs but this is a bad decision.
Ok, people don't have to worry about Taylor's country base. If you listen to the new wave of country artists, their albums R&B tracks, and EDM tracks. I listened to Florida Georgia Line's album and I was like 'Wait, this is NOT the country I grew up with.'

Taylor will be fine and I will be pressed.
!!!!! you guys remember when Cruise was slaying pop, Country is dying FGL and Luke are pop with a country twang. they're still gonna play shake it off cause taylors fanbase is huge

I do agree that would've been a great strategy for her. Doing this makes her country fans feel alienated I'm sure. And the way this album is being described, they have no material to look forward to from her.
Hopefully there are still touches of Country elements involved in some of the records. Although I'm starting to think people aren't surprised or bothered, like myself, and have expected her to release a pop leaning record. Especially considering how far she went with it on RED.
